Another 2 weeks have come and gone, this means we’re again ready with some new features in our TenForce application. I give you an overview of the most important ones below…

“It is a bad plan that admits of no modification.”

Publilius Syrus (~100 BC)

Even without these wise words, we all know plans only remain valid until changed. In a typical 1-2 week period, so much turns out differently than what you have planned for. This means you need to update your plan.

TenForce is now able to cope with these plan changes. Following changes are recognized by TenForce:

  • Updated task descriptions
  • New tasks
  • Deleted tasks
  • New hierarchy in the Work Breakdown Structure

On the ‘Plan’ tab’s toolbar, there is a new ‘Upload plan’ button. Use this to synchronize an updated plan with TenForce.

Support for MS Project 2003

Several users have requested urgent support for MSProject 2003. Some were even so brave to try it out. Guess what, it works! So, you can now safely import xml versions of a MSProject 2003 file as well.

New project and workspace features

On the project and workspace page, there are now 3 extra features, each accessible on an extra tab.

Status report

This gives you a basic follow-up of

  • What has been done,
  • Where are we late,
  • What’s due now, and
  • What’s due in the future.

For the moment, this is based on a weekly basis. We expect this to be customizable periods in the future.

Comments and attachments

This has been a popular request from many of our beta users. People want to link documents and post comments on the project level, as well as on the detailed item level. So now you can add both comments and attachments to your workspace and project.

Move out of the way, sidebar!

Another popular request is to be able to show wider columns on the items list. You can now collapse and expand this sidebar, so the overview lists become a bit clearer. We expect this feature to become more widespread in the application.

…and a series of numerous smaller topics

There are a 100+ little tweaks and changes that have lesser impact on the day to day use, or that even have no visible effect on the user interface.

For example:

  • We now fully support all Open Office 1.x and 2.x file types as upload.
  • The plan tab now has the MSProject’s start and end date of a task, as well as ‘% complete’.
  • Insert an attachment is now visible in the item’s history.
  • And many others…

Conclusion

This wraps it up for this version. We have some more exciting features in the pipeline. Please subscribe to our RSS-Feed to keep up to date with the changes.
