Tag the beast

Last Friday we installed a new version. This is primarily a maintenance version. A lot of changes happened below the radar and so very few new ‘visible’ changes are affecting our users. However, we do want to keep you in the loop of what’s happening…

New servers, more power, more uptime

We have now moved to new servers. The occasional availability problems should be a thing from the past. The mysterious, one half hour per 5 workdays, problem beast is now tamed. (that’s part one of the explanation of this title).

Tag your items!

We had already a tag picker since longer than I can remember. However it was pretty basic. Now we have a fully fledged tag picker where you can see other tags that are in use. Click the down arrow to select one from the list, or simply type it in. Our initial test users already came up with a few suggestions like making it less case sensitive (GUI, Gui and gui should all be the same tag). Also we need to think how we handle tags with spaces. (now these words become separate tags).

(that’s part two of the explanation of this title)

Where did the item come from?

You can now enter who was the original requestor of an item. On the ‘Originator’ field, select the person that requested the item.

Note that in a few weeks, we’ll be adding features to gradually expose more and more fields on an item if it is required. That means that you can switch on only those fields that you need. This ‘Originator’ will be one of the many you can simply left hidden if you don’t need it.

…and many other

There are again several small changes put in and bugs solved. One of them maybe important for some of our users. In some cases, the numbers on ‘real-time dashboards’ were wrong. It may mean that all of sudden you have less open items than before. The numbers displayed now are correct. We double checked it.

What’s next?

We have been busy to prepare a more fine-tuned mechanism to grant access to workspaces. You’ll see the results of this in a couple of weeks. In the mean time, please subscribe to our RSS-Feed to keep up to date with the changes.
