TenForce speaking at SemTech
TenForce was asked to give a talk at the SemTech event.
Part 1: ESCO, a multilingual taxonomy of occupations and skills for a modern and adaptable European labour market
The European Commission is developing the ESCO taxonomy, which has the potential to become a European standard classification linking skills and competencies to occupations and learning outcomes. ESCO will not only help to improve matching between jobseekers and vacancies. It will be an important tool for better anticipation and monitoring of emerging skills demands on the labour market. Bridging between the labour market and the world of education, it can be used for a wide range of applications such as tools for guidance, training needs analyses, performance management and appraisals recognised Europe-wide.
Part 2: RDF and SKOS to distribute European taxonomies
Europe has multilingual thesauruses and taxonomies to categorize documents of many different types (research papers, law, CV, study, comments, …). Objective of this presentation is to explain the value, vision and importance of semantic technology for storing, publishing and using these metadata. This session will address the following topics:
- Presentation of contents and goal of some important multilingual thesauruses and taxonomies
- Explanation on how these thesauruses and taxonomies are stored with semantic technology and what the advantages are
- Explanation on how these thesauruses and taxonomies are made available to the public as web pages but also in a machine-readable way
- Proposal for a multi-thesaurus and multi-taxonomy Europe to distribute the effort and investments in this valuable contents
