Manufacturing Upgraded #8: Take Contractor Safety to the Next Level

26 · 10 · 2018

For any corporation, optimization of processes and productivity is a continuous challenge that needs innovative solutions, solutions that also change as the company changes. This week, we’re looking into smart contracts, getting contractors on the same wavelength when it comes to safety culture, optimization in food manufacturing, and we’ll point you to a webinar on smart manufacturing.

Away with paper and PDF: try smart contracts!

Smart contracts are software-based contracts in which all conditions can be tracked, and allows for automatic actions to be triggered. It eliminates the need for someone monitoring the specific conditions of each contract and making sure each action happens when it should. This can be automated with smart contracts, which not many companies have adopted, but are certainly on the rise. You can find out more on TechRepublic, where Mary Shacklett tells you what it can do for your company. The future doesn’t lie in paper, so why not make contracts smart? Check it out here!

Ensuring your contractors are on the same page when it comes to EHS

Having a safety culture in your company is crucial, but finding contractors with a similar culture, or getting contractors to adhere to your safety culture is a different matter altogether. Jennifer Busick on EHS Daily Advisor suggests a five-step program you can follow if you want to make sure you work with contractors that are on the same page and can finish the job right. Of course, it starts with a strong pre-qualification process, because if you’re not sure your contractor has a similar safety culture, not only does it reflect badly on your company, it creates a slew of risks. Following these five steps will ensure you never have a contractor headache again!

Want to take managing contractor to the next level? TenForce has a module especially developed for Contractor Management.  We can help you especially with the prequalification process and managing documentation and compliance. Find out more here.

See you next time!
